MR MONTGOMERY RETIRES FROM
POLITICAL LIFE.

. .Mr Montgomery announces . that he shall not seek re-election at Akaroa, or elsewhere. His medioal advlsera have informed him that he must give np political life, or auything causing excitement, Mb heart being seriously affected. I -Mr McGregor, Mayor of Akaroa, is a candidate for the vacant seat., He generally approves of Mr Montgomery's views.
