THE MANITOBA RAILROAD.
A St Pan I despatch B^atea that the ■ Manitoba Railroad: will execute the greateat feat ia construction m 1887 that has ever been accomplised m this country,: and it is no lea* than the partial building of the road by electrlo light. A oontraot has been let to build 680 miles from the western end of the Manitoba roid to Great Falls, Mont., and ninety mileßfrom Great Falls to Helena, the work to be oomp'eted November 23 next. Three gacga of men, inolndins; 5,000 graiern, will work-in turns of eight hours, the work being prosecuted at nights by the aid of electric lights. The moat improred machinery will be used. This coarse has been resolved upon on account rf the exorbitant rates demanded by the Northera Pacific ftoad for transporting raiia. The Northern Pacific will loee the transportation, amounting to about $100,000.
