From information received, the r.o!ica went to the store of Ah Ohee, a gro er, In Waksfield street, 10-nlght, and sefzad twelve oasea of Chinese brandy, which had been imported by Ah Ohae. He will I c oharged with celling spirits without a license.
The provisions of the late Mr C. O. Davis' will are reported to be— £soo m aid of the funds of the Salvation Army Barracks, £100 to the Prison Brigade, and a like sum to the Home for Fallen Women . After the' payment of a number of bequests to relatives, the remainder of the estate will be divided between the Parnell Orphanage and the Auckland branch of the Young Men's Christian Association and the Auokland branch of the British and Foreign Bible Soolety. The whole of Mr Davis* mats, weapons, etc., are to go to the Auokland Museum. Wellington, June 29.
At a meeting m connection with the New Zealand Alliance for the suppression of the liquor traffic, the Rev Mr Driver, Secretary add Treasurer of the Wellington branoh, quoted statiatios showing that the drink bill of the colony last year amounted to £2,130,000, an average of £3 7s 6d per head, which, however, was the smallest expenditure upon intoxicants that had been known for 18 years, the average having been at one time as high as ten guineas per head.
