Owing to some remarks made by Cardinal Manning and Archbishp Walsh, against the intervention of the Vatican m Irish politics, the Pope haa suspended the mission of Monsignor Perscio to Ireland, which was proposed, owing to His Holiness being dissatisfied with the attitude of the clergy.
