Mr D. J. Napier, solicitor, has announced his intention of contesting one of the Auckland seals.

Mr T. Mason, who for some years represented tho Hutt district, announces that ho will oppose Air H, Filzherbert, the present member. Mr P. Ark wright, formerly a member of the Imperial Pailiaraent, will bo a candidate f r Bangitikei m opposition to Messrs Bruce and Stevens.

Fojt tho Ho'citika electoral district, Mr Sevan, tho Bitting member, has offered himself for re-election. Mr Grimmond, of Hoes, has also announced himself, and thero aro rumors of a third candidates but nothing definite has boen stated.

The Wanganui "Chronicle" says: — We understand that at a groat Maori feast held at Jerusalem on tho 4th instant, at which Borne 800 natives wore present, it was unanimously determined to support Hone Taipua at tho general election.
