Mr Tanner and Mr Sutton will uontOS the two Waipawa (Hawko's Bay) seats.
jDr Cole i 3 announced for the new Wei lingtoQ scat, but as yet ho has not declared his views.
Mr D. J. Napier, solicitor, has announced his intention of contesting one of the Auckland seals.
Mr T. Mason, who for some years represented tho Hutt district, announces that ho will oppose Air H, Filzherbert, the present member. Mr P. Ark wright, formerly a member of the Imperial Pailiaraent, will bo a candidate f r Bangitikei m opposition to Messrs Bruce and Stevens.
Fojt tho Ho'citika electoral district, Mr Sevan, tho Bitting member, has offered himself for re-election. Mr Grimmond, of Hoes, has also announced himself, and thero aro rumors of a third candidates but nothing definite has boen stated.
The Wanganui "Chronicle" says: — We understand that at a groat Maori feast held at Jerusalem on tho 4th instant, at which Borne 800 natives wore present, it was unanimously determined to support Hone Taipua at tho general election. It is understood that efforts are being made to brin? forward v candidate for the Kniapoi Electoral District m opposition to the Government, and that two gentlomen havo been named, neither of whom, it may be stated, js a local man.
Determined efforts are to bo put forth to secure the return of Mr James Allen, who opposes Sir It. Stout for Dunedin East. At a meeting of about ninety of Mr Allen's supporters, held on Friday, sub-committees were formed and an active systematic canvnea wai agreed on Mr G. If. Bichardson, M.H.K. for Matanra (Opposition whip) who was present, expressed his sympathy with Mr Allen's candidature.
Mr Hodge (Mr Pyko's libeller) ia out for one of the Auckland City soats ; Mr Adam Porter for Eden ; Mr Reader Wood will moat probably fight Mr Dargavillo for Marsden, and Mr Seymour (ioorgo bo piUod against Mr Moaa for Parnell ; Mr John Lundon is the Ministerial candidate for the Bay of Islaada ; aud Mr G. M Rusßell tho Ministerial candidate for tho Waikato.
