THE CELEBRATION IN LONDON.
[BUTTER'S TBLKQRAMS— OOMTBIOH*.]
jLjondok, June 21* The "Morning Post" states that 300 Roman Catholics, including", a number of peers, were refused admission to the Westminster service* The Catholics arranged/ with the approval of the Queen, to attend a special Jubilee service m their own Cathedral. This arrangement was subsequently overcome, although an awkward feeling prevails through such a- difficulty arising. The Jubilee was celebrated throughout the provinces with immense enthusiasm. Demonstrations, displays and gatherings were held everywhere* At Coventry the Lady Godiva proceß» sion surpassed anything of the kind previously held. To-night it has been arranged to light 500 beacon fires throughout the Kingdom. The apprehensions that dynamite explosions might occur have been allayed, and Westminster Abbey was thoroughly searched for combustibles and explosives, The police carefully guarded every part of the building. The honors conferred m connection with the Jubilee occupy three columns the "The Times." Many Indian officials are included m the honors, which are chiefly bestowed on Englishmen. In accordance with a Royal edict, new coins, m commemoration of the Jubilee, will be issued. They will con* sist of five pound and two pound gold pieces, and four shilling silver pieces* The new coins are generally condemned.
