Wakganui, June 38, . Messrs Ballance and Carson are oat for Wanganni. The latter is an Opposition candidate, bat beyopd expressing his want of faith m the Government he has not stated his platform. Messrs Bryce and Hutchison are out for Waltotara. The latter h a local lawyer and supports the Government.
(From our Exchanges). Mr William Dualop is again la the fisld for Avon. Mr Monk is as yet unopposed for Waitemats. Major Jaokfioa'a return for Waipa la regarded as certain. Mr Q. W. Russell (Protection ls') is oat for Waikjto. Mr Downie Stewart'B supporters aro organising with a view to seoure his reelection for Dunedln South. Me H. S. Fish will ulbo it is believed take the field, and possibly also Mr Thomas Dlok. It is sild that there will be a big fight for Eden (now represented by the Hon Mr Tole), Baddes the Bitting member! the* following are mentioned as probable candidates, viz. Mr A. Porter, Mr J. O'Neill and Mr Ait ken Oonnell, and possibly also Mr B. Besketh, solicitor. For Marsden (failing Mr Mitoheleon again seeking election) the following can. didateß are Bpoken of, viz, Meisrs Robert Thompson (county Chairman) P. S. Brown (ex-county chairman) and G. E. Alderton. For Waimate Major Steward is to be opposed on cc more by Mr W. J. Black, county overseer. The candidates for the New Plymouth seat will probably be Messrs Samuel, G. F. Hughes (solicitor), E. M. Smith (of ironeand fame), and W. Bayley. Mr O'Connor, the Bitting member, is as yet the only candidate mentioned for Bailer Mr J. Duthle, is to oppose Mr J. H. Fraser for To Aro. Mr W. McLean, commission agent, opposes Dr Newman for Thorndon (Wellington.) Mr MHoWuon nncoanoo? his intention of relinquishing Marsden. For Lytfcelton Mr Allwrigbt (present member) and Mr John Joyce, solicitor, are m the fieldMr Oliver Waneey opposes Mr Recce for Stanmore.
