A BIG FIRE
§£§SfS3 Nobmanby, June 7. A rerlous fire occurred at 5 o'clock thin morning. Spaldiugs Hotel, Hawora, wns burned down. It consisted of about 20 rooms. The firo broke oat In the kitchen and the whole building was consumed m about an hoar. The Union Bank building's were seriously damaged. Everything was saved from the Poet and Telegraph offices withing half an hone. Id will take a few hours to fix the instruments and resume buainess at the Telegraph office. Insurance — Hotel building, £600 ; furniture, £250 m the Phoenix. The Poetmaster's furniture waa Bayed, The hotel furniture was saved. [It will be noticed that the foregoing message is very disjointed, and it evidently haß been mutilated m transmission. It appears, however, that m addition to the hotel and the bank buildings, the Post and Telegraph offices at Hawera, were either destroyed or considerably damaged. We publish the message m the form it reached us. — Ed. G.
