THE PEOPLE'S PALACE.
The interior of the People's Palace presented a most imposing spectacle. , Madame Albani sang " Home Sweet [ Home." The Queen eulogised the generous efforts to meet the needs and add r to the pleasures of the busy workers of ' the metropolis. Walter Besant, who | foreshadowed such a scheme m his novel, "All Sorts and Conditions of Men," specially presented the foundation stone for the School of Technical 1 Handicraft as an adjunct to the Palace. J The stone was laid by the Queen. 1 The populace behaved remarkably well.
