Wellington, May J5. Final returns for the Northern Maori election give Wi Katene a majority of three H. Messrs Laery and,Campbell, auctioneers, who were burnt oat m the late fire, have served a writ on the Insurance Oompany with which they were insured, claiming the amount for whloh the premises were insured (£4000). It is underatood that defendant oompany resist the claim on the ground that the building was overinsured, and although willing either to allow the question to go to arbitration or to rebuild the building no settlement has been arrived at. A deputation from the New Zealand Medical Association, consisting of Dra Aaderson, Tripe, Maun sell, DeZjuche, Kemp and Collins, waited oq the Premier yesterday. The object of the deputation was to represent the desirableness of an alteration m the Publio Health Aot, by which public vaccination should In future be performed by duly registered medical practitioners only, ia order to ensure its efficiency. The Premier said he would giva full consideration to the reasons advanced by the deputation.
