This afternoon Bills to reduce the Goveri nor's salary and allowances and the Parlia- { mentary honorarium were introduced by Mr Ormond, and read a first time. The new Tariff Bill was introduced by Sir J, Yogel, i and the oooasion was taken by Mr Mobs to ; deliver an oration, m wbioh he painted the position of the colony m characteristically ' Bombre colors, The second reading of the 1 Bill was fixed for Tuesday, when the financial \ debate will commence. The Government j calculate, I hear, on carrying their proposals by a narrow majority, while on the ' othpr hand the Opposition loudly express their confident anticipation of defeating them. j The Electoral Aots Amendment Bill was recommitted, and after a long fight a clause * was added extending . the hour of polling m , the oities and certain boroughs named till 7 , p.m. A further clause was added requiring . candidates to deposit £10 each, to be forfeited if a tenth of the number of votes polled • by the successful candidate be not reoorded for I the unsuccessful. The House is now, 9.30, thirty going into committee on the Rfpresen- ' tation Bill.
