Wellington, May 6. The deadlock over the Representation Bill still continues, but the Premier m moving to-day tho further adjournment of the debate t»U Tuesday next, expressed the hope that the difficulties would be arranged m the interval. It 1b said that he offers to agree to 16 instead of 20 per cent m favor of the country constituencies, and thnt he will also concede a margin of variation of 750 instead of a 10&0. Whether this will be accepted by the country party remains to be seen. At the present the feeling is that evsn 20 per cent difference is leaa than should have been demanded. Some amusement was caused this afternoon by a question by Mr Pyko as to whether a separate room would be Bit apart for the use of independent members. This evoked a speech of good-humored raillery from the Premier, followed by an independent protest m his best style from Sir G. Grey. Finally Mr Pyke was promised that an endeavor should be made to meet his wishes, and immediately after some practical joker fixed v label to the door of an old lumber cupboard or ooal hole, indicating that this was dedi cated to the use of hiwself and party, at which the hon member professed to be very wroth. Mr Taylor, member for Pydenhanv, dropped m for a vety severe rebuke from , the Speaker at a later stage for the uae of unparliamentary language*. Iv reply to Major Steward, the Minister for Justice admitted, the expediency of making arrangements to permit fiaoa for breaches of municipal bylaw*, etc, being paid without the necessity of attendance at Oourt, and promised .to introduce a Bill to giye effect to the suggestion of the hon, member. Mr Ivess obtained the leave of the Grown to introduce the Public Advances on Land Bill. This is the same as the measure brought m lost year by the late Mr Maoandrew. The Bill to enable local bodies to vote funds for the jubilee celebration was brought m by Sir J. Yogel, who moved the second reading. It was generally disapproved and wan. I believe, withdrawn.
