IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.

At this morning's sitting of the Imperial Conference the proposals of the Australian Governments for the administration of New Guinea, submitted Iby Sir Samuel Griffiths, were accepted by the delegates In connection with 1 the scheme Sir Henry Holland stated that the Imperial Government were prepared to provide and maintain a cruiser at the annual cost of ;£i 5,000.

At the afternoon sitting the discussion of the New Hebrides question was resumed. Sir Dillon Bell urged the Imperial Government to adopt the views of the colonies. Sir H. Holland stated that negotiations were still proceeding between the British and French Governments regarding the New Hebrides. He expected m a few days an answer would be received from France, which would give satisfaction to the Australian colonies.

The proposals submitted to the Conference by Sir Samuel Griffiths provide that Queensland shall guarantee to undertake the administration of New Guinea for a period of ten years instead of five, the cost of a cruiser and its maintenance, set down at per annum. After the Conference has concluded, Sir Samuel Griffiths will, m conjunction with Sir R. Herbert, Permenent Under-Secretary for .the colonies, settle the details of the Bill for the future government of New Guinea, which will subsequently be introduced into the Queensland Parliament.
