DUMMY CHEESES.
A correspondent of a Home paper tel leof the .following little mistake m connection with a special consignment of Glo'ster cheese to a large dairy house m Somerset. .The customers of tho latter hud run very ehort, and immediately tho consignment arrived a good many werG aent out to tho retail shops The shopkeepers found them very hard, but adopting the suggestion that they might bo " very new," aad wanted ripeniDg they kept them awhile Still, however, no impression could be made upon them, despite tho fact that they were before tho firo for a couple of days. More complaints now catno m to the Somerset firm, and at length a suspicion began to dawn upon them They communicuted with tho Gloucestershire house, and found that the actual consignment of cheese which had been ordered was coming m a day or two, and that the lot previously forwarded had only been plaster of Paris dummies for show m Bhop windows ; but to perfect waß the imitation that the difference had not at first been discovered. ; <
