A tea meeting and. sale 'of work were h.9ld yesterday iv connection with the Baptist Church and reeulted most successfully A large number of useful articles were disposed of by Mes- { dames Jones and Giles, who had charge of the snle, and the proceeds reaultaut should be pretty considerable. Tea was oo the tables at 5 o'olock, and fully 250 persons must have sat d <wn to a sumptuous meal, over whloh Meadamos Sawle, Giles, Oasa, Flower, Oolyer, Osborne and Wheeler ably presided. After the tea a I public meeting waa held, Mr Sawle, pastor of the Church, occupying the chatr. The Revs D. MoNicoll and O. O. Brown and Mr Hemmett occupied seats on the platform, and subsequently de- 1 | livered addresses, as did also Captain Field, of the Salvation Army. Apologies were received for the unavoidable nonattendance of the Rev* & A. Scott and AM Seattle The Secretary and Treasurer having read the report and balance-sheet, the meeting was addressed by tha Ministers and others present, the sp eohea being interspersed with anthems and hymns pleasingly rendered by the oboir, under the leadership of .Mr Wildsmith, Mrs Flower presiding at the organ. A collection was taken up for the purpose of extinguishing a debt still remaining upon the fittings of the chtroh, and resulted m the sum of £7 2a 9d being subssribed. The benediotion brought the meeting to a close.
