THE ATTEMPT TO ASSASSINATE THE CZAR.
[special to prkss association.] London, March 29.. Further arrests have been made of Nihilists suspected of designs upon the Czar. One of the men deputed to assassinate the Emperor was directed by the Secret League to carry a bottle of poison under his clothing, resting upon his bosom. A second emissa/y was deputed to watch the intended assassin m the event of the latter's courage failing. His comrade was to smash the bottle, and procure the death of his tellow-conspirator. (Received April 2, 11.10 a.m ) ' [rbutbk tm.eg.rams— copyright.] St Petersburg, April 1. It is now definitely known that the attempt on the life of the Czar was made at Gatschina on Tuesday last. His Majesty was passing through the park when he was fired at and the shot but narrowly missed its aim. The assailant, who is stated to be an officer m the Russian army, was arrested on the spot.
