FIRE AT NAPIER.
NARROW ESOAPK OF SIX MEN.
Napier, March 30. A fire broke out at 1 a.m. at Heron's bakery, a large two-storoy brick building it the rear of a confectioner's shop m Kmorson streot. Six men slept upstairß, and when they discovered tho tiro tho staironse wns m flames, and tho meuns of escape cut off. Naked as they were, they jumped out of bod and had to get out by the window and spring on to the iron roof of a lean-to, which was red hot. r J hey saved tboir lives, hot were terribly burnt. The building aud stock were insured for £400 m the Now Zealand offioe.
