At the annual raeating of tha New Zealand Stud Pedigree Company the financial report submitted showed a balance In favor of the Company of £20,743. Messrs Morrin, Clark, and i<irth were elected directors. The Chairman stated that the directors hoped to make the Company a dividend paying ooncern. Pater Finn, an old offender, and now an inmate of the Old Men's Refugj, was committed for trial for greviously assaulting a fellow inmate. A few weeks ago the Auditor-General Informed the New River Harbor Biard, whioh is also the Borough Council of In-verou-gill, that they were exceeding their powers m borrowing money. The facts, shortly put, being that the money was advanced by the Council's bankers to the Harbor Board on the taoit understanding that tha Corporation funds on deposit should be security for the Harbor liability The Board has practically no funds. The bank appears to have taken fright at tke Auditor- General's memo, and has asked the Borough Council to furnish it with a statement of funds coming m available ! or the extinction of the Harbor Board's overdraft. The Council's reply h*s practically been a threat to remove their bankIng business to another bank. To-day a oheque drawn on the Harbor Board's acoouot was refused by the bank.
