ANNUAL CONCERT AND BALL IN AID OP THE SCHOOL PRI4E FOND. The above popular annual entertainment was held m the Schoolroom last week. The attendance w»a fully up to the average of previous years. Several musiclal friends from Aihbrrton premised to attend and assist but at the eleventh hour found that they were compelled to attend their own avocations that evening, and lent apologies. All the Methven people can do fi to Insist on their fulfilling their promise next entertainment. The first part of the programme was let apart entirely for ilia children attending the school and comprised solos, dialogues, soags, tie., all if which were rendered (n a very pleasing manner. Where all did so well it would be invidious to make coco pail ons, but the $ouogest infants, under the leadership of [iss Andrews (mistress), certainly deserve more that a passing meed of praise for the very creditable style m which thsy •ang the •• Clock," " Tick, Tick," etc. The second part commenoed with a pianoforte solo by Mies A. Shann, which was very nicely rendered, followed bp songs, recitations, and readings, mostly comioa 1 , by the older rx embers of the township. Without giving the merits <f eaoh performer, suffice to say that the items kept the audieiice m roars of laughter. Mrs Fi z^erald payed the accompaniments m her ueual artistic style. The room wbb then cleared for the Ball, whioh was well patronised, and dancing was kept up with great vigor until long After the "wee short hours ayout tl c twal." Mrs Fitzgerald presided at the harmonium and Mrs O'Rouse, supplied light refreshments daring the night. The Committee are satisfied with tie peouoary results, which will add a substantial sum to the fond.
