METHVEN SCHOOL.
ANNUAL TBBAT AND DISTRIBUTION OP PRIZES. The Committee of the above School gave the scholars their annual treat last Friday m the grounds adjoining Mount Harding, kindly granted to them by the proprietor Mr D. G. Holmes,. There was a fair attendance of parents and visitors, the children mustering m full force. After tea, cake, and other tempting viands had been discussed by young and old, a programme of sports, races for the children for toys, &c , provided by the Committee, waa pone through and carried out with great glee. After another eupply of tea, and a plentiful feast of good things had been handed round, and duly disposed of, three cheers were given for Mr Holmes for the use of the ground, three for Mrs Tierney for the supply of refreshments, and a like compliment wqb paid to Mr V. Rouse for catering. Then an adjournment was made to the schoolroom where the prizes, which consisted of a nice collection of books, &c, were presented to the lucky recipients by Mr K. Patton, Chairman of the Committee, The following is the PRIZES LIST. GENERAL PROFICIENCY.
