There are 23,000,000 of people m the Punjaub, among whom there was no Christian effort made till 1870, but bo numerous are/ the Christiana now that last year they purobased tracts to the value of 10,000 rupees. A Mr John Wiloookson, of Broom Hall, Chesterfield, reported to bo worth £60,000, has beon sentenced to three weekß' hard labor for starving eight cows to death. Stanley's outfit for the relief expedition will cost over £20,000. The expedition will include 1000 persons. Amongst other weapons of defence he has taken with him a Maxim gun, capabla of pouring forth a Btorm of 600 bullets a minuto. Tho Empress of Bussia is said to be an exoellent marks woman, and rifleshooting ranges have been made for her at all her residences.
