A HAUNTED SHIP
A Norwegian barque, the Sqaando, which reo a ntly pat Into the port of Bathurst, m Now Brunswick, has been abandoned by her officers and crew, <vho one and all declare that the vessel is '* hauntpd," and that nothing would induce them to go to sea m her again. When *he was m San Francißoo some years ago the captain and his wife murdered the fir-it mate, severing his head completely from his body with an axe. Her next master was killed m a mutiny, and hla two immediate successors died on board. The Norweg'au oonsul at Bathurst engaged two watohmen to look after the deserted craft but a single night on board wan enough for thorn. Thoy allege that they saw " a headless man walking m the cabin, that handspikes wera flying round the deok, th&t the bed clothes were pulled off them, that a cold olammy hand wan laid on their faces, and that they heard ehosily voices bidding them to depart."
