An inquest was bold yesterday on a little boy named Austin, who waß drowned m the lagoon. He had wandered away from his parents house, and when eearch was made for him he was found dro irned . Ho had evidently been trying to get a hat belonging to a little girl who waa with him out of the water, and m doing bo fell ln. A v.rdiot of accidentally drowned waa returned. Dunedis March 6. Mr F. R, Chapman left yesterday to attend the sitting of the Appeal Court. Mr Chapman will argue the legal point, on behalf of the prisoner Hall, and will be assisted by Messrs Denniston and H. JL). Bell as juniorsA piucky rescue was effected by Mr Crowther, of the Customs yesterday. A boat m which two lads were rowing was npset, one managed to swim ashore with the assistance of a buoy thrown to him, the other attempted to cling to the Bkiff, but was juab sinking when Mr Crowther seeing hia danger jumped off the wharf m his olothes, and swimming about 60yds, succeeded ln keeping him afloat.
