Suspected Incendiarism. Wellington, Feb'uary 28 Two attempts were apparently made yesterday to burn down an unoccupied boarding house m Harbour street. In eaoh instanoo Bhavings were on fire, but were discovered by passers by. The police think vagranta may have done it. Salmon Ova. The Stella left for the South this morning with the salmon ova by the Kaikoura which arrived m excellent condition. It will be taken ti Dnnedin, Oilntou and Inveroargill University for Wellington. It is undor stood that the Government have a Bill ready for presentation to next session of Parliament, the object of which is to endow Wellington with a University, with the services of the Geological staff for the Museum. The Bill will be introduced by Sir R. Stout. Fire Brigades' Demonstration. Duhedin, February 28. New Plymouth gains the third aggrogate prize at the Firemen's demonstration, because it secured a first, which South Dunodin did no*. Both secured the same number of points.
Insurance?. Coonye's stock was insured for £100 m tho Equitable, and the building m the London and Lancashire for £100. A Successful Bazaar. Knox Church Bazaar realised £1500 m a week.
Mr Macandrew's Funeral.
The three Harbor Board b 1 earners and the Government steamer Gordon left town at noon, crowded with passengers to attend Mr Maoandrew's funeral. Among those present wore Sir jft. Stout, Hon. P. Buckley, Sir M. O'Korke, Sir J Hull, Mr Montgomery, M.H,R., Hon. Colonel Brett, Mr O'Oouor, M.H.8., Hod. S. Shrimskl, and Major Steward, M H.R. Dr Stuart and the Uev Mr Gregg officiated at the grave.
