ONE OP THE OWNERS.
During the stay of H.M.S. Nelson at this port a rather am^in? incident occurred which fohy deserves mentioning. Everyone has heard of Hodge, or we wll suppose they have, and if not, then they can't have been long m Auckland However, a few daya ago this celebrity took it into his head, to pay a visit to the Nelson, and the idea was soon acted upon. He engaged a waterman, who soon rowed him over to the wart hip, where he, with the utmost self-possession stalked on board, and to th,e surprise of the assembled officers began a tour of In- ' spection on hip own account without vouchsafing any explanation. Thfa was rather singular conduct, but the efficer on watch thought he would humor our friend and so allowed him plenty of liberty. Hodge seemed quite unmoved by the surprise his visit had occasioned, and oalmly went on with his sight-seeing until he got tired and made preparations for his departure. Seeing that the strange visit r was about to leave, the lieutenant, who bad been greatly amueed, went np to him and aaked if he wished to Bee any* one. "Yes," was the reply, " I want to see the Admiral." (< Oh," Bald the effioer, " ho is on shore, perhaps you would like to leave a message?" A slight pauee ensued, and at the end Hodge, quite aelfpcßS?B3ed, said "Oh no; you can just tell him when he returns that one' of the owners, called," £ucMand $ell, '
