A SENSIBLE PROPOSAL.
An attempt ia to be made a£ one of the fashionable London theatres to eatabliah tea time theatricals during the mater. The dullest hours of the day m London •re those between four and six m the day. Strangers do rot care to wander m the streets after dark, and they are often at their wits' end hew to fill op the gloaming hoots between euneet end dinner tme. Many commercial and professional men finish their day's work at four o'olook. They, too, are Inclined for leisure before dinner, and would prefer a theatrical entertainment beginning at four o'clok, to one that commences at the conventional hour of eight. An ezpe iment m this ■will be tried shortly after Christmas. It ii propoied that half the uaual prices of admission should be charged, and that two little pieces, each of an hour's 'dotation, should be played. In the Interval tea m'ght be served. A very attractive programme might be provided, at a slight cost, and the venture ought to be attended with success.
