Christohuroh, February 14. A serious bitch bas occurred witn reg«rd to holding the Rifle Association meeting here. To-day Captain Somerville, on visiting the proposed range at Rabbit Island, found it overgrown with rashes, tussooks, and thistles to each an extent that it will cost at lenst £80 to dear it He does not feel justified m lnoarriog this expenditure, as he would have to out down the prize list, and the amount of public nopport hitherto extended is not such as to warrant the belief that more than the value of the Canterbury prizes will be raised here. Wanganui, February 15 A private telegram received from Captain SomervlHe of the New Zealand Rifle Association states that he has been looking for a range all the morning bat hits not yet naoooaded. He is afraid he will have to postpone the meeting Tha range at Rabbit Island is unsuitable.
