A WELL OF VINEGAR.
The Ohio Leader, of September 3, says that thete is great excitement m New London over the fact that one of the public wells of water has -turned into a well of vinegar. Mr Oan.oy, a gentleman m the employ of a boot and shoe firm, went to the well as usaal last Wednesday morning to get water for sprinkling the floor of the store, and m pumping saw that the water had a peculiar red oolor, Vu s . thought nothing about it until he drew some to drink, ile took a good swallow cf it, and found that he was nearly strangled. Others lasted of it and the news soon spread to all parts of the city, and m a short time the citizens were flocking to the well and carrying homa what seemed io be a good quality of vinegar. One enterprising grocery firm here has already filled one hundred barrels witli it, and proposes to put it on sale. Farmers are coning m from all parts of tbe country, and taking home with them thousands of gallons. What seems more surprising m the fact that the flaw of vinegar is greater than was the fl >w of water. The earth wave last Tuesday night was felt very perceptibly here, and all attribute the phenomenon to the convulsion of nature.
