DREADFUL OCCURRENCE IN A HARVEST-FIELD.
A terrible accident occurred recently on a farm at Oiw Fiat, 13 tuilea from Bathhurat. A farmer nanud Barrett wa* reaping, aud driving his own raaohine, when he noticed his son two years and ahalf old, m the field, and told him to f,o home. The little fellow left an open space where the hay was oat, and the father, thinking he had obeyed and returned to the houae, continued raaping Suddenly m the thick part of the orop, tho horses stopped, and something ob straoted the knife of the machine At the same time be heard a Bcreatn, and on Investigation Barrett found ho had cut down hie child, pavt ring one leg entirely above the ankle, and tho other leg almost so The child had gone iot the crop unobaeivacl, and had not moved when tie machine came alonr. One foot was lying some distance from the body, and tie other font and ankle hanging from tha leg by a sinew.
