ADDINGTON LIVE STOCK MARKET.

There was a th'.n attendance at the Addington Market yesterd-y. Cattle.— Very few fat cattle were yarded, and there was absolutely no demand, Good beef sold at the rate of 169 to 17a per lOOibs, bnt middling and Inferior, of which tho greater part of the supply cm-.isted, were at much lower figures. A line of bullocks sold at dg6 per head, which was the only imporiant eale, and denoted a fall of folly 10s a head since last week. Fat cows sold from £3, and a few nice heifers at £4 15s to £5 53. Ihe sore oaUle department was equally Va*o of supplies, but there was a rather better spirit among the few buyers present. A line of 3(3 three yesr-.-old steers sold at £4 17s Gd to £5 it Cd a head, and a few two-year-old heifers at £2 15a. Dairy cows of good quality, springing or just calved, were wanted, and fetched up to £7 10s.

Sheep.— The supply of aheop was not large, but leaving the mobs of old ewes out of scoount, the qualify was good. The a»le opened dull, but towards the finish the export demand was felt, and an advance of Gd to Is was secured. A prime line of crossbred wethers from Rakala was sold for freezing, to Mr Cyril ! Hawdon, at 9< 3d. and other freezing lines brought from 7s 6i to 9i 2d, being a^. the rate of fnlly l^i p>r lb. Lighter crossbred wethers ana good crossbred ewes sold at from 5s to 6s 9 J eaib, or f i to Id per lb ; old orossbred ewes, from 2) 6d upwards. Prime merino wethers sold well ; the Balmoral consignment st 4s lOd to 5i 2d, and Mr H. C. Bnchanan'a (Little River), 5j 5d and 5s Gi, and a lighter pea at 4s 6 1. Old merino ewea, for boiling down, Bold at lid to Is 9d eaoh for nearly 1000.. Fat lambs sold very well ai an advance of Is e&qb. on good descriptions. Very ohoioe ponß ss high sb 10s : good lines, 6s to 7s ; middling, from 2% upward?. ■ The top pen ware extra prime Lleoeater-merino half-breds from Mr W. J. Orr, Halkett. Another superior pen, from Air John Miln, Lincoln, sold at 9j. In store sheep, no transactions came under our notice.
