THE IMPERIAL INSTITUTE.
A crowded and influential meeting m connection with the Imperial Institute was held at the Mansion House this afternoon, the Lord Mayor being m the chair. It was resolved that the erection of the Institute be carried on by voluntary subscriptions. The meeting pledged itself to support the undertaking. At least half a million will be required to start the Institute. A representative Committee of all sections of the community will be appointed shortly. It will be three years before the Institute is opened.
