Doctor Porter, the medical officer, telegraphs that there is little doubt that the patients now m quarantine were infected during the removal uf the corpse of the first victim at Adelaide, which was, wrapped m loose cloths, removed m the piesence of the Preussen's passangers. Several of the patients at Sorrento hive admitted that they " dodged " the medical officer's inspection when he visited the vessel at Adelaide. Several patients at the quarantine station are m a critical state, one of the cases being considered hopeless. Adelaide, January 7. Two fresh cases of smallpox are reported, one of which is regarded as hopeless. (Kacuived January Bth, 1 15 p.m.) Sydney. January 8 One of the smallpox patients at the quarantine ground h is died.
