After an enquiry, ixiordintr over two foil days, into the burning of Mr Gibbons’ cooperage at Onehunga on the 19 October last, the jury at 11 20 last, uiaht returned a verdict “ That the mill was ■et fire to wllfolly by eom person or persons unknown.” In the course of the evider.ee taken Ernest K'rab, an employee of Gibbons’, swore that the latter repeatedly asked him to burn down the place at intervals ext' ndirg over tw - months prior to the fire. Mrs Kora’ Corroborated her husband's statement, living a portion of the conversation, and a settler named Chatman deposed that five weeks before the fire Kerub told him he ba offered him £lO £o burn down the placo.
