CONCERT AT KYLE

(FBOU DOR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) A concert In aid of the prize and library funds in connection with Kyle School was held on Friday evening lost, and was in every respect most suco s?ful. The schoolroom, which was tastefully decorated for the occasion, was crammed to the door, and a large and varied programme was submitted, consisting of songs, duets, glees, readings, and ins’rumentai solos. As singers the following ladies rendered valuable assistance, viz : Mosdames T. Richards and Thomas, the Misses Moss and Miss Young ; as accompanyists, Meadamen Lowe and Harrison, and Miss Laoubie assisted daring the evening. Mr Gaoksoa contributed a violin solo, wlroh elicited great applause, and Mr W-lkinson gave an excellent reading, entitled ’‘Mr Bntterwick’a Horne.” Comic and charao ter songs were contributed by Messrs Kelsey and Put to an appreci tive audience. The glee, “Ye shepherds tell me,” by Mr and Mrs Thomas and Mr Brooks, produced quite a storm of applause, an did the duet, “ How s«d it Is to say farewell, '' by the Misses Moss Miss Yi.uug’s song, *ha Scotch Brigade,” was a gem, and received a mod enthusiastic encore. Mr Allan’s songs, (ho -'ooich Emigrant’s Farewell,” and “The C»meron Men," were well received, as were also the by Masses Thomas, Brooks, Harrison, and Lambie, After the concert, dancing was kept up with great spirt nil an ear-y hour, the music being supplied by Mr Cjokson, Miss Mesa and Mrs W, Harr>son.
