Higgott’s ch h Patrician,. 4yrs, fist 71b ... iDodd) 0 Trickster was quickest on his legs from an excellent start, but when they bad fairly settled down, Patrician and Lochiel were in front, with Spade Guinea Alpine Rose, Trickster, Waitiri, and Quibble leading the ruck, and Moana last. Passing the stand, Lochiel was in command, a clear length in front of everything. Patrician, Spade Guinea, Trickster, and Waitiri coming next, with the others close up At Cutts’, Patrician and Quibble slightly improved their positions, but fell back again at Ford’s, where Lochiel was Bill in front, with Spade Guinea, going well within he 1 self, second. As they ran a'ong the back stretch Pasha and Dis owned began to go up, and Artillery, who bad been h' Iding a good position, fell back. At the top turn Lochiel and Spade Guinea were running together, with Quibble and Patrician third and fourth, and Nelson and Alpi e Rose next. A little further on Disowned retired, and entering the straight Nelson and A pine Rose made their efforts, but the latter almoa' immediately collapsed. Ne son hid Quibble and Patrician beaten in the next few yaids, and disp sed of Lochiel two furlongs from home, but Spade ( uinea went on full of tunning, and won with something in hand by a length and a half, i ochiel a fair third, Waitiri fourth. Patrician fifth, and Disowned sixth, the rest pulling up. Time—mile, J mile, Imin 15sec ; 1 mile, I min 1A mile 2min 41sec ; 2 mi ! es, 3min 32sec.
