The Supreme Court was occupied all day in the trial of a civil action in which £SOO damages were sought by a lad named James O’Su’livan from hia employers, Hale, Throp, and Co., twine manufacturers. The plaintiff had lost the fingers of his right hand, which was crushed in one of the machines through the negligence of another of Hale, Throp, and Go’s workmen. The jury found for the plaintiff damages £2OO. A lad named Stephen Hubbard, between 15 and 16 years of agt, was committed for trial to-day 011 a charge of poijury. The ii on the remains of the child found buried in a garden about a fortnight ago was resumed to-day of Dunedin, has made a post mortem examina I n of the child, but owing to the advanced stage cf dec mpcaition, he could not tell from the wounds whether death had occurred before or after their infl clinn. The jury returned the fallowing verdict :—“ That the child -vas a female child, born of 1 gin s Sarg-maou, and had been murdered by the said Agnes Sorgenson between the I2it and 25 h September last.”
