Goldsbro’ and Co. held their usual weekly wool sale this afternoon to a large attendance of home and foreign buyers. Owing to telegrams of an unsatisfactory nature having been received from the manufacturing centres in England and on the Continent, competition was less spirited, and prices were barely maintained. Greasy wool generally is from jZd to 3/£ d lower, and secured from to id lower than at the commencement of the present season. Inferior to good greasy wools realised from to \oy 2 per lb j inferior to average scoured from rod to is 2500 sold. Adelaide, October 28 Ireland, Fraser and Co., of Mauritius, under date October 14th, report that the country is suffering from severe draught, and the sugar mills are running only half time. Should the drought continue they will cease running altogether. The month’s engagement for Auckland amounts to 200 tons, for for Dunedin 100 tons. The crop, which a month ago was estimated to >ield from 105,000 to 110,000 tons of sugar, is now only estimated at 92,000 tons.
