EARTHQUAKE PREDICTIONS.
The terrestrial convulsions that have recently been reported fr..m America and the Mediterranean bring forcibly to mind die newspaper paragraphs which were current some months ago regarding the oredic ion of a Ge man Professor cf Geology, who has made volcanoes his fctudy. In the courss of a lecture at Trior, on the Mosel, he predicted the sit Thomas earthquake three years ago which came true. He, at the same time, said that in May or June, 1883, and September and Octcb r of the same year, there would be terrible upheavals and volcanic eruptions, reaching to the north of Wellington, v ew Zealand. He further stated that the months ot September and October would witness the worst earthquakes which ha i occurred for over 3000 years past. The paper in which the above appeared said that the professor had prophesied a number of minor e uptions, which had all coma to pass.
