CHRISTCHURCH HORSE MARKET.
Mess's H Matson and Co report under date 14 h ins :—The most noticeable feaiu-e of the horse sales for some little ime past has been the scarcity of supply, and -ilthough the demand is per aus not particularly extensive or keen, yet it is a fac that the entry of good serviceable sound draught horses has at last fallen below requirements. Of course just now every agriculturist la busy with his spring work, either in the sowing of bis grain crops, which have been so long delayed, or else la preparation for roots. And this no doubt accounts in a great measure for the limited number of ho ses coming forward. On the other hand, it must be admitted that prices are not very encouraging. Still, the stock in the country have also been much reduced by the late • x anslva shipments toSvdney. At our sale on Saturday between 50 and 6 j ho-ses only were catalogued, of which but fe« went out unsold. Good farm horses brought £ls to £lB, £2O and £23; aged sorts, £lO to £l2 ; the better class • f hack and light harness hoists—none special offering—£-2 to £l2 10s ; ordinary descriptions, £7 to £lo
