Svdney, October 8. The Assembly having sat all Wednesflay mg'it, a most disgraceful scene occurred in the small hours of the morning. G vernmert were pressing through the additional estimates for £200,000, when Sir H. Parkes referred to the Government as a “ brutal Ministry, trying to govern the countiy by brutal means.” Sir P. Jennings moved that the words be taken down. Then followed a long discussion, during which Sir H. Parses justi fiad the words used as the best at apted to describe the tactics of the Ministry in forcing debates upon the House at such unreasonable hours Sir P. Jennings thought that a more insolent am more unworthy speech had never beer, tna-ie In the House. Mr Wisdom justified the expression used by 'sir 11. Parkes, and said that that they are the mo't brutish Minist y they had ever seen" It was then moved that the words be taken down and they wore declared by the House *o be disorderly. Mr Wisdom declined to withdraw or apologise, and ho was adjudged guilty of contempt, and ordered into the custody of the Sesgeant at Arras. The Speak-r having isiaed the warrant, some difficulty was experi onoed in executing it and removing Mr Wisdom from he Chamber, the services rf some mes'iemers being required to assist the Sergeant at Arms. The House then proceeded to deal with -ir H. Parkes, who made a >llO exp’anation, which was accepted, that the words had not been used in their ordinrry effiosive ra tuning, and Mr Wisdom was al o released b*;f ~o the rising of the House. From what ho hod seen and heard, he believed the French detachment wou’d ultimately he removed.
