A meeting of a few of the Wellington shareholders of the New Zealand Shipp ng 0 -mpany was held to-day, the object being to consider the present position of the Company’s affairs. It was resolved that the headquarters of the Company in New Zealand be removed from Christchurch to Wellington, and that steps be taken to secure such necessary change. The resolution was agreed to, there being but one dissentient, and it was farther decided to convene » meeting of the whole of the Wellington shareholders for Thursday, 20th inst., to discuss the proposition in a more ample and more public form. Oaiaaru, October 12.
The body of a child apparently three or four weeks old, was discovered buried in a hole at the north part of the town today. The body was in advanced stage of decomposition, but la fearfully mutilated. One of the leg* was cut off by the hip, and the head, arms, and other parts of the body were cut and backed about. The mother of the child is known, bat the police only discovered that something was wrong the other day, and to-day found the body bnrled In the garden. An Inquest will be held to morrow.
