RANGITATA ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of the Kangunta Road Board was held on Mondav, October 11. Present —Meaars 0. J. tfarper (Chairman), Burgees, Doyle and Strachey FOURS. The Chairman stated that he had had ail the fords on the Hind; river attended to—Tho Board approved of the Chairman’s ao ion. A specification furnished by Mr Sutherland for making up fords at foot of cuttings was considered,— Matter left in hands of Chairman. STORM WATER A letter was received from the County C .uncil etid- siag Engineer’s report on the subject of obstructing storm water. The Board agreed with the tenor of the repo:t PAYMENTS. Accounts amounting to £l7 were passed for payment. DOGS ON HOARS. Mr H Corbett waited on the Board in reference to dogs being ; laced on certain roads.—ln reply to questions from the Chairman, Mr Corbett stated he would not object to gates, where the dogs are now placed.—The Board had no objection 11 gates provided they were properly put up In accordance with the Act. FORMATION A«D METALLING. ■ The Board decided to call for tenders for about 60 chains of formation and metalling on the Mayfield-RaagitaU Bridge Hoad as suggested by Messrs Burgess and Doyle, TENDER. The tedder of J Brown for formation of forty chain of road of road near Auama, at 6i 61 per chain, wa-> accepted. RATEPAYERS ROLL. Applications from the following persons to have their names placed on the ratepayers roll were assented to :—T. B. Richards R.S 28639; W. Mabley, RB. 32909; E Green. RB. 30285; John Burgess, R.S. 29760 REPORT Tho following extract from Messrs Burgess and Doyle’s report was considered and agreed to ;—“ Hinds roa r t: We would suggest that all loose stones be picked oil for a distance of tour miles, same width as before. —Morrow a road: About a mile in ex ent from end of present metalling hss been badly cut up by the traffic. We suggest the filling in of the rnts and the picking cf stones on the north side 24 feet wide. Tnis would improve it fjf the present.—Mr Coskerlo’s requeit to have the stones picked off tho line of fence we cannot advise t > be granted, as it wonld be a bad pecedeat to begin to undo wo k sanctioned by a forme.- Board, probably during the time the applicant was a member.”

ADJOURNMENT. The B >ard adjourned till the first Monday in November.
