THE OAMARU BREAKWATER.

Wellington, October 8

Tbe Colonial Engineer reports it will coat £?C00 to repair the damage to the Oamarn breakwater in the recent gales, and £22,000 more to make it safe against future damage. & spit has been formed round tbe head of the breakwat r, but it can be removed by dredging from time to time. Proposals have been submitted to the Board by which the money can be raised upon application to Parliament, the security being extra rates on the district.
