ADDINGTON LIVESTOCK MARKET.

The Addington Yards yesterday were not largely supplied with fat stock, and of store stock ihere was a numerous entry. Buyers mustered pretty strongly. Cattle.—The supply of fat cattle was somewhat limited, and a large proportion consisted of North Island beef. Prices rather higher than at last week’s sale, and the entry was cleared without any diffimlty. Sheep—Of fat sheep there was but a moderate entry, and with few exceptions the quality was indifferent. The sale opened at prices ab )ut on a level with last week’s quotations, but after the first halt hour there was a marked improvement in the competition, which increased as the auction progressed, until at the close there was a rise of from Is to 2s jer head for anything like decent lines of cross-bred mutton abov ■ opening rates. Prime cross-bred wethers sold at from 15s 6d to 18s, and in a few instances at a little more. Cross-bred ewes sold up to 17s 6d, and shorn cross-bred brought from 11a to 12s 91. Average merinos realised from 10a to 12a. Primecros:-bred wether mutton sold on an average at 3J er lb, Btcoud-clata lines and merino a shade lower. There was an increased supply of fat lambs, and in const quence values were lower, ranging from 5j to 10s, St ire sheep, of which t .ere was a fairly large entry, sold at about on a par with recent quotations. The improvement which has been noticeable for some few weeks past was pretty well maintained, though there was no further advance.

Pigs.—There was but a small entry. The few porkers on offer sold fairly well, and we noticed a good dem iid for smallsized stores much bet er than for larger sorts. Porkers sold at from 15s to 245, email stores from 6i to 7s.
