AUCKLAND V NEW SOUTH WALES*

The football match, Auckland v New South Wales, took place this afternoon at Newmarket. Three thousand people were present. There were nine mw men in the Auckland team, only six being representatives, and they wt-re lighter than the Sydney team. The term closed with Auckland nine points, New Sooth Wales, nil In the second spell New South Wa s played much better, and Auckland had repeatedly to force down Just at the close Whiteside made a splendid run right throught the New South Wales men, and touched down behind the goal. Play ended with the score -Auckland eleven, Sydney nil. Among the Auck landers Byan, Whiteside, Madigan, and Lecky distinguished themselves, and for Sydney Shew, Walker, Bell, and Bridge.
