Tise orcm.oy ut-.-uiuly uiett.ug of tli. Hakatere Town was hold at the I Board’s offiie, Hampstead, last evening. Present—Messrs F. T, Mayo (Chairman), j Audreys aud Hunt. BATE BOLL, 1 ' The Clerk reported that the rate roll 1 would be and advertised, by Saturday. ( poo tax. j The Ohairmaa said that he had given , an order for fifty dog collars. ( The Clerk said ho would be at the office on Saturday in order to sell cellars. BELT. The Chairman said that the Borough Council had agreed to clean out the water-table on the bolt and put ia culvert at a resonable rate, the cost of which would be charged to the Board. CORRESPONDENCE. Letters were read (1) From Mr F. Meares, stating that ho banded letter containing Board’s application for grant to Fire Insurance Association. (2) From Colonial Secretary's Offi 3o| s t that Mr John Olllvor had been appointed to make aa award under clausa H of the Town Districts Act, between the Board and the Wakauui Raac B.atd. (3) From Colonial Secretary’s Office, stating that there was no legal power to alter the name of Hskatere to Hampstead—The Chairman stated that tie letter was mislaid and that was the reason it did not appear in the minutes of the previous meeting. After soma discussion, Mr Andrews moved ‘‘That the attention of the authorities be called to obtuse 12 of the Land Act.” Mr Hunt seconded the motion, which was carried (6) From the Ashburton Borough Council, forwarding’ account amounting to £3 4s for expanses incurred by Brigade in attending Nicholson’s fire.—The amount was passed for payment subject to correction, if necessary. SEAL. The Chairman wai> authorised to procure a seal. EIRE. It was decided to ask the permission of the School Committee to have the school bell rung in case of fire. RATE. The Chairman and Clerk were instructed to prepare an estimate of receipts and 1 expenditure, aa required by the Act, prior to striking a rate. BYLAW-i. The Chairman aud Mr Andrews were appointed a Committee to draw up bylaws DUO REGISTRATION, The Chairman was authorised to see the jsergeant of Police with reference to enforc ng the registration of dogs. I PAYMENTS. Accounts were passed for payment 1 routine business transacted and the Board 1 adjourned.
