The match Australians v South of England commenced at Brighton to day. The weather being cold and inclement the attendance was consequently small. The home team was composed of W. G. Grace, Newham, W. W. Read, Abel, Q. G. Hearn, A. Hearn, Humphries, Loh. maun, Phillips, Maurice Read, and Woolton.

The visitors, who won tbe toss, elected to bat, and succeeded in compiling 207 runs for tbe loss of nine wickets. Gif an ibw, 62, Jarvis, not out, 45, were the cilef scorers.
