“UNITY AMONG THE CREEDS.”
TO THB EDITOR. Sir, —The sentiments expressed by the Bev Father Chastagnon at the conclusion of Thursday night’s concert will be e". domed by every sensible member of the community, and, in emphasising his remarks, I have no intention or desire t > transgress the rales of the secular press, by opening up a correspondence on religions topics. Bat, from casual observations of gatherings organised in the interests of the different denominations, for several years past, I am forced to the conclusion that hitherto the advances towards a state of- “ kindliness and unity among the creeds in a practical shape—have been very one-sided. When we see our Roman Catholic fellow-cit'zens and settlers participating in, or even patronising by their presence, the entertainments or demonstrations of other Christian churches, I shall feel more satisfied that the rev gentleman was not carried away by the enthusiasm of the moment, and rejoice to witness his wholesome precepts bearing fruit.—l am, &c.,
