EARTHQUAKE
Wellington September 3. ' A smsit shock of earthquake was felt d here shortly after noon, e Blenheim, September 3. A very severe shock of earthquake was felt at noon to-day. The Government 3 Buildings and other structures rocked » greatly, and considerable alarm was occasioned. The shock lasted seven or ’ eight seconds, and was preceded by several seconds by loud rumbling. No damage is reported. The shock was felt 1 generally throughout the province. It was the heaviest felt for many years. Nelson, Septembers. A severe shock of earthquake was felt here at noon to-day. Westport September 3, - Strong shock of earthquake here at noon. Christchurch, Septembr 3 Slight earthquake shock here about two minutes past 12 noon. Duration seconds. Direction apparently from north-east to south-west. It was felt at Kalkoura, Lyttelton and Akaroa. The weather is fine.
