ADDINGTON LIVE STOCK MARKET
The day was fine, and a large atten - dance appeared at the Addington Yards yesterday. Supplies wore rather limited, and good spit lb prevailed in the o >mpetltion for all fat lines. Cattle.—A very small number of good fat berets were yarded, and the demand being very strong, last week’s rise was fully maintained. Good bullocks sold from £7 to £9 10s; heifers, £8 to £9 being equal to 27s 6i per IOOIbs for prime beef, and 22a 6d to 25a for average, Stores were more plentiful, but met again [with very alack demand at low prices, Sheep.--The supply of fat sheep was not up to the average, but some capital lines were among them, Messrs Gould and Cameron’s grand crossbred wethers, under Messrs H. Matson and Co’s hammer, realised the top price of the day and the season, 25s Gd a head, from Mr A. S. Bull; and some other well-con-ditioned sheep passed the 20s, Prices were frequently Is a head above last week’s valnes, and in all cases the advance quoted then was confirmed. Good cro.'B-bred wethers may be quoted at 14s to 20s; ordinary and ewes, 10s to 13s 6d ; good merino wethers, 10s to 14s; ordinary, 7s to 9». A special lino of Mr Leonard White’s well-known raarlao wethers were placed, also by Mr Matson, at 17s 6d, to Messrs F, Hopkins and Co. Mutton was equal to 3d to per lb for the best shop and freezing qualities ; 2Jd for ordinary and ewes. Stores were few In number, but buyers were still scarcer. Values showed no change.
Pigs.—There was a good entry of nice porkers, which sold at rather better prices th>in have been obtainable lately. Very few bacon pigs were in, and they sold at late values —something under 3d per lb.
